Areas of Expertise

Academic-Community Partnerships

With extensive experience working with community organizations and collaborating with promotores de salud (Latine health promoters), Rachel can help facilitate conversations and strategic planning around partnership goals, community-driven priorities, practical and public-facing deliverables, and managing team dynamics over time.

Qualitative Research

Rachel has been the P.I. for multiple qualitative studies and mentored various graduate student researchers in designing and conducting their own studies. She can help guide and provide feedback for teams preparing IRB proposals, grant narratives, articles, interviews, focus groups, and deliverables for community partners.

Writing Support

With 14 years of experience mentoring writers in academic and community settings, Rachel is experienced with helping people work through writing projects from initial brainstorming to final editing. If your team could use extra support with academic or public writing, Rachel can provide support through one-on-one and group consultations or facilitated workshops.

Note: Rachel also works as a training design consultant for reproductive healthcare organizations, but is not currently taking on new clients for training design or development.

  • I learned from Rachel how to build genuine relationships with potential collaborators or community partners. As a writer, I valued her patience and willingness to work through ideas; she didn’t force her opinion but instead offered wise and thoughtful advice to me. As a community-engaged researcher, I was grateful for Rachel’s expertise as well as her attention to ethical practices for working with and writing about marginalized communities. Rachel prioritizes care for those she works with and her authenticity sets her apart from other consulting services.

  • Rachel is a fantastic resource! I have worked with her on various research projects, IRB documents, grant proposals, and scholarly works. She approaches research with compassion, empathy, and enthusiasm. She does a wonderful job of providing constructive feedback on writing while ensuring that the writer's voice and purpose stay at the forefront. I can't recommend working with her enough.

  • I collaborated with Rachel on multiple writing and research projects, and these projects helped me develop as a writer who could write for many kinds of audiences across various contexts. Working together on these projects, Rachel’s mentorship helped me understand how an effective writing process works, how to write collaboratively, how to lead a team, how to write a proposal, how to write for publication, how to communicate with reviewers and editors, and many more things.

  • Dr. Bloom-Pojar demonstrates a deep care and passion for what she does and provides information and resources which are valuable and person centered rather than simply what she thinks. Whether it be for professional development, consultations, research, publishing, or more, she is a fantastic individual who is extremely hardworking and caring of those who she works with.
